Following her studies she moved to Paris, initially to study but shifted into milliner work. She found a job working for Jean Barthet at The House Barthet. Wies completed her training in the workroom and earnt her millinery certificate. The House of Barthet produced hats for the collections of well-known fashion designers such as Chanel, Emmanuel Ungaro, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Claude Montana and Sonia Rykiel.
After five years at The House of Barthet Wies moved into theatrical millinery and went on to work at the Comédie Française, the French National Theatre. The theatre has its own costume department, and through the 19 years she was there she was moved through the ranks and became responsible for the millinery workshop.
With the opportunity for her family to return to The Netherlands Wies established her brand La Plus Belle. Located in Oegstgeest Wies works from her home studio to create award-winning couture millinery.
