Serena Lindeman

Serena Lindeman is a milliner based in the iconic Nicholas Building.  She has forged her place as a key leader in the Australian millinery industry through her millinery work and role as a millinery educator at Kangan Institute.

She found millinery when she was living in London and working as an Art Teacher.  She began taking millinery classes and studied at the London School of Fashion before securing a role with the legendary Edwina Ibbotson.

On her return to Australia made her mark with a piece that won a fashion on the field competition and it was described that the piece “oozed effortless seek”.

She returned to her teacher skillset when she joined Kangan Institute as a specialist trade.  Her knowledge of the trade and teaching skill has seen many graduates through the course and into the industry.

Serena found a home for her millinery business in the Nicholas Building.  She has collaborated with well-known local designers and with her own design won the inaugural Myer Millinery Award at Flemington Racecourse in 2006.

She is known for her mastering of the art of flat pattern men’s hats creating them in collaboration with other local businesses.  As a registered hat repairer with Akubra Serena revives these widely known hats from many various states to give them a new life.
